COMPANY SNAPSHOT:
The National Children's Hospital Abigail Wexner Research Institute aggressively supports the discovery of new knowledge and its translation into novel therapeutics and diagnostic tests to advance pediatric research.
The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the best national institutions for pediatric research and health services. As part of a multi-phase initiative to transform their facilities to continue their world-class status, Nationwide Children's and Turner Construction partnered to develop Research Building 4 (RB4), spanning 290,000+ sq ft.
Nationwide Children's needed a way to remotely check in on progress, share updates with stakeholders and ensure consistent, streamlined communication with various vendors.
Nationwide Children's redeployed the OxBlue camera they’d used on two prior projects, but added the extra element of live streaming. As construction began during the COVID-19 pandemic, the shift to hybrid/remote work increased the need for live jobsite monitoring. Using the camera, all stakeholders could get real-time updates on the project’s status. This helped meetings become more productive, as teams could reference the camera and image history to highlight specific actions and milestones in greater detail.

The time-lapse and video features in the OxBlue web-app served multiple purposes: managing and marketing the project. With unlimited users, Nationwide Children's could add various vendors and partners as needed. From there, construction teams could monitor their own activity, track materials and add an additional layer of security after-hours with the 24/7 camera. Having the site recorded made it easier to manage communications.
While the construction teams leveraged the cameras for day-to-day insight, Nationwide Children's marketing team was able to use the same images for promotional content. Each project includes a professional OxBlue time-lapse after completion, which the marketing team used for the building’s opening ceremony.
