The Chicago Athenaeum Museum Honors OxBlue’s Cobalt Series Camera with 2019 Good Design Award
March 20, 2020 (ATLANTA, Ga.) – OxBlue, an Atlanta-based technology company and the leader in professional construction camera services, has been awarded a 2019 Good Design® award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum for its patented Cobalt Series enclosure. The time-lapse construction camera was created in collaboration with Creature LLC, an award-winning product design firm located in Atlanta, Ga., and was recognized in the Safety and Security category.
When designing the new camera enclosure, there were several unique challenges to overcome. As construction cameras, the system needed to provide high-quality, wide-angle optics for imaging and video. The system had to be designed to withstand harsh job site conditions from Alaska to the Middle-east with built-in environmental controls. It also needed the flexibility to be easily installed virtually anywhere, run efficiently on virtually any power source (including 110v, 220v and 12v solar) and be built for the best wireless connectivity. The final design delivers all of these needs and more, all in an easy-to-install, sleek package.
“The Cobalt Series enclosure is a critical part of the solution that enables job site progress monitoring and reporting for our clients,” said Chandler McCormack, CEO of OxBlue. “We’re proud of the work the team put into this and grateful for the recognition for what was accomplished.”
Good Design is presented by The Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies as the foremost program that honors and recognizes the best design talent and the best manufacturing worldwide. The 2019 Good Design Jury was held in New York and Los Angeles and was composed of renowned international specialists with wide design experience, guaranteeing the high quality and high level of the competition. The criteria for selection follows the original 1950’s program and includes, for instance, the innovation or the functional impact or even the ecological impact of each product selected.
“This year’s historic 69th Good Design program,” states Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, Museum President, The Chicago Athenaeum, “recognizes the work of thousands of designers and manufacturers worldwide who have successfully undertaken the design challenge to produce the best and most outstanding design products across the globe to our large and expanding global consumers.”
